Only the Lebanese Army can protect the northeastern border town of Arsal from threats, Grand Mufti Abdel-Latif Derian said Wednesday, urging Lebanese to place their faith in the military. The security situation in the border town has become the center of a heated debate between political rivals since last month when Hezbollah and the Syrian army launched an offensive in the Qalamoun region on the outskirts of Lebanon's eastern borders.Hezbollah for two weeks has been battling militants from the Nusra Front and ISIS on Arsal's outskirts, as the Army guards the town from any attacks or infiltration attempts.
