The military has foiled terrorist groups' subversive goals in Lebanon, said Army commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi, who also pledged Friday to press ahead with efforts to secure the release of 25 servicemen held hostage by Syria-based Islamist militants.In a speech to the military marking the 15th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from south Lebanon, Kahwagi vowed to liberate the remaining parcels of Lebanese territory still occupied by Israeli forces. Kahwagi vowed to continue to defend the country's sovereignty.Defense Minister Samir Moqbel said the Army was fully ready to repel any attacks by militants holed up on the outskirts of Arsal.Arsal's officials said the Lebanese Army was the only party allowed to defend the town against any attacks, implicitly rejecting Hezbollah's involvement in any possible battle in the town.The Army also announced that it had arrested two men in east Lebanon over links to terrorist groups.
