Summary
Lebanon's air traffic is expected to witness severe disruptions over the next three days due to Russian "military drills" set to take place in the Mediterranean Sea, a source from Beirut's International Airport told The Daily Star.
The source said that airport authorities received an official communication from the Russian navy requesting the country shut down its airspace in the interest of civil aviation safety as the drills would directly affect planes arriving to and departing from the airport.
Air France also said that its Saturday flight scheduled from Beirut to Paris will be delayed by 50 minutes, according to the National News Agency.
Ethiopian Airlines, Air Algerie and Air Morocco also cancelled their flights to and from Lebanon scheduled for Saturday, according to the Beirut airport flight schedule, however it was unclear if those flights were cancelled because of the Russian drills, or for other reasons.
