After a 30-year halt, the American University of Beirut restored tenure positions in light of a vote made by the institution's Board of Trustees, according to a statement Monday.AUB's Board of Trustees voted to reinstate tenure Nov. 20 . The university shelved tenure in 1985 when the Lebanese Civil War was at a highpoint.After the University Senate voted on the decision to reinstate tenure by acclamation in 2014, the issue was pursued by the current administration under AUB President Fadlo R. Khuri and Interim Provost Mohamad Harajli.
