MP Ziad Aswad, of Michel Aoun's Change and Reform bloc and Future bloc MP Jamal Jarrah, led the fray and came close to blows, which were averted due to Hezbollah MP Ali Ammar's timely intervention. The spark that ignited the confrontation shortly after cameramen entered the hall where the meeting was taking place in Parliament was a claim by MP Hikmat Dib, from Aoun's bloc, that the chair of the committee Future MP Mohammad Qabbani had been lying to the press with respect to the nature and the decisions reached during previous committee sessions. At this point the committee erupted into a shouting match, prompting Qabbani to adjourn the session. The session was held to look into accusations made by the Future Movement against Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement of mismanaging the electricity sector. Dib seized the opportunity to reiterate his accusations against Qabbani."He does not pay his bills and is hindering the work of Parliament".MPs eventually made their way outside the committee room.
