Ain al-Hilweh, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, is home to around 50,000 people. The camp's population has swelled since the onset of the Syrian crisis in 2011, and it now hosts more than 10,000 Palestinian refugees from Syria.Today, Ain al-Hilweh, once the center of spontaneous solidarity protests, has seen few such demonstrations. The current Palestinian situation and the division between Fatah and Hamas have affected refugees' urge to go to the streets, a number of residents agreed. Some of the camp's residents have repeatedly denounced such incidents, calling on the factions to unite and fight for the real cause: the right of return to Palestine. One of the faction leaders, who said he was ashamed of having his name published, confessed to The Daily Star that there has been a decline in support for the Palestinian people who remain in Palestine. The leader explained that the only ones fighting for Palestine were the ones living there.Frustration has set in with several Palestinian refugees, including Ahmad Awad.
