Municipal trucks early Monday reopened all side roads leading to the commercial district in Baalbek hours after a number of people claiming to be merchants blocked them to press authorities to beef up security measures in the Bekaa Valley city.Security forces had carried out morning patrols after Hussein Tleis, owner of a jewelry store in Baalbek, was shot dead during an attempted robbery last week.Baalbek-Hermel Governor Bashir Khodr said that Internal Security Forces would carry on with security measures approved during a security meeting held in Baalbek's serail last week, including raiding hideouts of wanted people and a crackdown on tinted windows.However, Amer Haj Hasan, speaking on behalf of Baalbek's merchants, defended the closure of roads in the city to press security forces to do their job in maintaining law and order.
