Beirut activists to protest remarks by businessmanThe We Want Accountability campaign has called for a Saturday demonstration in Downtown Beirut to protest remarks by a businessman who one day earlier said protesters were "cheapening" the high-class district. The groups wrote on its official Facebook page Friday that Downtown Beirut belongs to the people, urging a large turnout at 6:00 p.m. in Riad al-Solh Square in response to Nicolas Chammas, the head of Beirut Traders Association, who warned against transforming Downtown Beirut into a so-called "Abu Rakhussa" market.
