A "Demonstration of Rage" was held Friday by a group of Islamists in Tripoli, who called for the fair treatment of Sunni prisoners, including militant Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir.Supporters of Assir from the southern city of Sidon also joined the protest, calling on the government to handle his case fairly.Lebanese Army units and Internal Security Forces riot police were deployed to maintain order.Assir is currently being held in Rihanieh Prison in Yarze, but his attorneys have demanded a transfer citing poor conditions at the facility. Assir was arrested by Lebanese authorities last August at the Beirut airport after being on the run for over two years. A radical anti-Hezbollah preacher, Assir was wanted for leading a two-day battle against the Lebanese Army in June 2013 in south Lebanon's Abra.
