The waste contractor for Greater Beirut and Mount Lebanon announced Thursday that it had shifted from the area more than 275,000 tons of accumulated trash from the last eight months and defended the Naameh landfill as one of the best in the region.Lebanon has faced an unprecedented trash crisis since July when the capital region's only landfill at Naameh was closed.Sukleen reiterated that, as per Cabinet's plan, the old waste was being taken to the old Naameh landfill.Jaafar defended the landfill as the best in the region, following accusations that the site posed massive environmental and health hazards.
