A prominent Palestinian official was assassinated Tuesday when a bomb ripped through his car near the southern Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh.General Fathi Zaydan, Fatah Movement's senior officer in the nearby Mieh Mieh refugee camp, was targeted in the explosion.The explosive went off as Zaydan was leaving a security meeting in Mieh Mieh and heading towards Ain al-Hilweh.Gen. Munir Maqdah told LBCI that Zaydan demanded during the meeting between Palestinian factions that security measures be tightened in the Mieh Mieh camp.However, Palestinian factions at the camp agreed to a ceasefire last week after a personal dispute developed into a fight between the rival factions, leaving three men dead and nine others wounded.
