The new secular group Citizens within a State Sunday announced its list of candidates for the upcoming municipal elections in Beirut in an effort to challenge mainstream parties. The group campaigned in Beirut's Jnah, Mathaf, Hamra and Dalieh areas on Sunday, the state-run National News Agency reported. The NNA added that the group will continue its tour Monday in Karantina, Ashrafieh, Bashoura, Barbir and ESCWA areas, where it will discuss the "trash scandal" and Lebanon's minibus and taxi services. The organization had said in a statement that it shares the same aims as the Beirut Madinati (Beirut is My City) coalition, which announced its 24 candidates for the municipal polls Friday.
