The fate of a legislative session hangs in the balance after Speaker Nabih Berri said Sunday he was still waiting for responses from parliamentary blocs to his proposal to include an electoral draft law among other essential topics on the agenda. He has staunchly rejected demands by the Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces to list an electoral law as the first item on the agenda of any legislative session.Former premier Fouad Siniora said the Future bloc is committed to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri's pledge not to attend any legislative session if an electoral draft law is not listed on the agenda.Siniora's remarks indicated that the Future bloc does not insist on listing an electoral law as the first item on the agenda of any legislative session. However, MP Ibrahim Kanaan from the FPM said Christian blocs would not attend any legislative session if an electoral law is not listed on the agenda. The Kataeb Party bloc has refused to attend any Parliament session before the election of a president, while the other two main Christian parties, the FPM and the LF, have said they would attend only if a draft electoral law is at the top of the agenda.
