The announcement comes after the minister drew heavy criticism for barring private taxi companies and drivers from entering the airport's arrivals level last month, restricting access to the airport-run syndicate. The taxis will take the official name "Airport Taxi". Drivers of these cars will have a uniform, which had been previously announced; however, the cars will also be required to meet strict new guidelines. A lighted "Airport Taxi" sign must be placed on top of the vehicle.
