Gen. Walid Salman will not be extended, Prime Minister Tammam Salam has vowed.But in remarks published Monday in several local newspapers, Salam conceded that the term of Army commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi may receive yet a second extension. Nevertheless, Salam said that a new chief of staff will succeed Salman, as his term can no longer be extended.Both the terms of Kahwagi and Salman are due to end this month. Salam reportedly urged rival powers to agree on a presidential candidate, for the good of the country.
