Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil met Tuesday with Speaker Nabih Berri, with talks centering on the divisive issue of Lebanon's potential offshore oil and gas reserves.Information Minister Ramzi Joreige also met with Berri to brief him on a proposal to help newspapers cope with a sharp financial crisis that is threatening to shut many down. It was the second meeting between Berri and Bassil, the president of the Free Patriotic Movement, in recent months. Bassil did not speak to reporters after the meeting, held at Berri's Ain al-Tineh residence. Last month Berri convinced Bassil to drop the FPM's reservations against opening all 10 blocks for interested companies to bid on.
