As an employee who works at a demanding job that requires a lot of concentration, Layal and her friend, who asked not be identified, were looking to try something other than going for a simple night out.With coloring nights for adults becoming more popular, art therapists are keen to make the distinction between art as therapy and art as a therapeutic activity.Art therapy usually takes place with a certified art therapist, Fawaz said."Many people might use art to de-stress and art for self-care, and that's very therapeutic and that's something that we always love to see, but it's not therapy," said Fawaz, who conducts art therapy with impoverished communities in Lebanon. Art therapists work with people of different ages who have various difficulties affecting their daily lives and help them find solutions. At Joon on the Moon, Christell Abdo enjoyed her first coloring night with two friends.
