Samir Yazbeck, a well-known Lebanese singer, passed away Monday after losing a long battle with illness.Yazbeck was admitted to Sacre Coeur Hospital several weeks ago, where he died after a more than two-year-long battle with throat cancer, local media reported. Born in 1939 in the town of Remhala in the Aley district, Yazbeck recorded more than 300 songs, including the hits "Khedni Ma'ak" (Take me with you) and "Degi Degi Ya Rababa".After working with the Rahbani brothers for a couple of years, Yazbeck continued his musical career with theater giant Romeo Lahoud in 1963 .Yazbeck left Lebanon for Damascus at the start of the 1975-1990 Lebanese civil war.
