Minivan bomb kills Bekaa official, injures brother A bomb that ripped through a minibus in the northern Bekaa Valley town of Al-Ain Wednesday killed a local official and critically wounded his brother.In a statement, the Army said that the area was cordoned off and military experts inspected the scene.The statement said the suspect had previously been convicted on theft charges.The agency said that the suspect, a Syrian national identified by his initials N.J., was detained on charges of belonging to a militant group.He allegedly admitted to participating with an armed extremist group to launch attacks on Army checkpoints in the northeastern border town of Arsal that resulted in the death and injury of several soldiers. No further information regarding the case was given, except to say that the suspect has been referred to the relevant authorities for questioning.
