Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk Monday accused Hezbollah chief Hasan Nasrallah of using "democratic cover" to obstruct the presidential elections in his speech last week. The Future Movement, to which Machnouk belongs, has repeatedly accused Hezbollah of obstructing the presidential elections at the behest of Hezbollah's main regional backer Iran.Commenting on the municipal elections which are scheduled to take place in spring, Machnouk said he hoped the issue of financing the elections would be finalized Tuesday during a Cabinet session, saying there was "no political force against the elections".Touching on the Michel Samaha case, Machnouk denied rumors published by the Kuwaiti daily Al-Anbaa about a possible resignation of Future Movement ministers -- including himself and Justice Minister Ahraf Rifi -- to protest the case not being referred to the Judicial Council.Samaha, a former minister, was released on nearly $100,000 bail last month after being convicted of terror charges last year.
