Education Minister Elias Bou Saab briefed Saudi Ambassador Ali Saeed Asiri Monday on the reasons behind the Lebanese foreign minister's abstention from supporting an Arab League statement condemning Iran and Hezbollah. Speaking after the talks, Bou Saab condemned last month's attack on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran by angry Iranian protesters. Last month, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, the president of the Free Patriotic Movement, abstained from voting on the final statement of an Arab foreign ministers' meeting which classified Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. He called on the Cabinet to study every decision separately," Bou Saab said. The minister said he explained to Asiri the factors that prompted Bassil to take his stance.
