Summary
The Lebanese Army launched a major operation inside a restive northeastern border town Wednesday, killing six suspected ISIS militants and arresting 16 others, including a man believed to be behind the assassination of a police officer last month, the military and security sources said.
A security source had told The Daily Star that only two militants were killed, including an ISIS commander.
The army, however, said no soldiers were wounded in the operation.
The town was the scene of a five-day battle in August 2014 between the army on one side, and ISIS and Nusra militants on the other.
Most have since been released, but ISIS is still believed to be holding nine soldiers on the town's outskirts.
