Hezbollah will not attend a Feb. 8 parliamentary session set to elect a new head of state until it ensures the election of its ally Michel Aoun as president, party official Hajj Hussein Khalil said Saturday. In a dramatic development, Geagea announced his backing for Aoun's presidential bid last month. In his recent speech, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah threw his weight fully behind Aoun's presidential candidacy, strongly dismissing the possibility of any change of heart in favor of Aoun's rival, Frangieh.Aoun said Thursday that the newly formed alliance between the FPM and the Lebanese Forces would not come at the expense of the MoU.
