Voter lists for the municipal elections, scheduled for spring, are now available on the website of the General Directorate of Personal Status, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday, a sign of serious preparations for local polls.Last week, the government of Prime Minister Tammam Salam approved a decree to finance the country's municipal elections as well as parliamentary by-elections in a south Lebanon district, paving the way for local polls in May as scheduled. Municipal elections are held in Lebanon every six years. Parties from across the political spectrum have so far expressed to Machnouk their support for organizing municipal elections on time.It remains unknown what shape political alliances will take during the municipal elections, with recent realignments over the presidential election dealing a blow to each of the March 8 and March 14 coalitions.
