"The possibility of reaching an understanding with Aoun is easy ... Aoun is aware of the problems and has a vision to solve them through government work," Machnouk said during a TV statement after meeting with the FPM founder. He explained that during his meeting with Aoun, he discussed the vacancies in the leadership of the Internal Security Forces. Aoun is one of the main candidates in the run-up for the presidential elections, as he is backed by his rival group, the Lebanese Forces, and his March 8 ally Hezbollah.Machnouk, however, is a member of the Future Movement, whose leader Saad Hariri has unofficially endorsed Marada Movement leader Sleiman Frangieh for presidency.
