Defense attorneys at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon questioned the probative value of cellular coverage maps tendered by prosecutors Tuesday, arguing they should not be allowed into evidence. The maps were tendered during testimony by a company representative of the Alfa network, who attempted to explain the technical processes by which they are generated.Defense attorneys also emphasized the distinction between records produced in the course of the company's normal operations, to which a company representative might knowledgeably testify, and the special reproduction of much larger maps for prosecutors. The coverage maps are reproducible, and the witness testified that a new map could be produced in a day or so.
