Scuffles broke out with police Thursday as accountability activists attempted to enter the offices of the Central Inspection Department to file a request for information. We Want Accountability protesters staged a sit-in near the department's offices, decrying the agency's failure to fulfill its supervisory duties. "This bureau has not met in more than a year, even though the law states that it has to convene twice a week," We Want Accountability coordinator Nehmat Badreddine told The Daily Star. We Want Accountability requested information from the CID in January pertaining to the significant issues ailing Lebanese citizens, including the ongoing garbage crisis and the inadequate electricity and water services.
