The mayor of a Beirut suburb Thursday said all of the trash from Mount Lebanon's Metn district would be moved to a dumping ground in another suburb and will then be used to create energy once a thermal plant is complete.Dikwaneh Mayor Antoine Shakhtoura told Akhbar al-Yawm News Agency that all the trash that has accumulated on the streets of Metn would be moved to a 50,000 square-meter plot of land in Burj Hammoud, just east of Beirut, where the waste would be packed. He said the waste would be used to produce energy once the construction of a proposed waste-to-energy plant in the area is finished in six months.
