Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk Thursday called on the Future Movement to suspend its dialogue with Hezbollah after Future leader and ex-premier Saad Hariri blamed Hezbollah for Lebanon's deteriorating ties with Saudi Arabia.Salam urged ministers to preserve Lebanon's standing in the Gulf, in Thursday's Cabinet session.Salam told the government he was pursuing every avenue to mend relations with Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Joreige reported.Some ministers objected to groveling to Saudi Arabia to restore aid.The minister suggested later that the party responsible for the rift should be the one to mend it, in a reference to Hezbollah."If the side responsible for the problem apologizes, then the diplomatic relationship may be rectified," Asiri said in remarks to a local radio stationHe underlined that Saudi Arabia has always supported Lebanon. Ministers also reviewed the government's initiatives to defuse the trash crisis, in Thursday's meeting.March 14 ministers asked to refer former Minister Michel Samaha's case to the Judicial Council, but Salam said the issue should wait until a new minister is appointed.
