Samaha's sixth-floor residence was dark Friday night, as a protest was held outside by youth organizations from the March 14 bloc and Progressive Socialist Party. From afar, Future Movement, Kataeb Party, Lebanese Forces and PSP flags could be seen. The packed demonstration later made its way south toward Samaha's apartment. The call for protest came after Samaha was released on bail Thursday. Samaha was arrested on terrorism charges in August 2012 and convicted last year by the Military Tribunal. One satirized the Tribunal's decision, calling the release of Samaha "good news" for others transferring explosives. Many believe that the Military Tribunal is politicized, and that its decisions and verdicts are subject to outside influence.Samaha is close ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad and Hezbollah.
