Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil Tuesday announced that customs agents at the Beirut airport had foiled a cocaine-smuggling attempt by a man arriving from Peru, and vowed to push ahead with his anti-drug campaign."The company that exported the fruits from Peru is known, as is the company in Lebanon that imported them," Khalil said. He did not reveal the names of either company, but said the one in Lebanon had been involved in an earlier drug-smuggling attempt. Khalil hailed the efforts exerted by the poorly-equipped customs agents to control drug smuggling operations, emphasizing that the state will not be able to lose the battle against trafficking networks.
