The Health Ministry's new headquarters was opened Thursday just south of Beirut after five years of construction, relocating from its previous setting in the capital's Adlieh area. The new ministry building, located in Bir Hassan next to the Rafik Hariri University Hospital, was inaugurated in September 2010 under the patronage of then Health Minister Mohammad Khalifeh. Chairman of the Council of Development and Construction Nabil Jisr, who attended the opening ceremony along with Health Minister Wael Abu Faour and other officials, said that the project was necessary, as the ministry receives a high volume of people on a daily basis, similar to that of the interior and education ministries.
