The mother of ex-lawmaker Hasan Yaacoub Friday suspended a hunger strike to protest last month's arrest of her son, the family said in a statement."The wife of Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub (Imtithal) responded to a request by (the Higher Islamic Shiite Council) Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan to suspend her hunger strike after he pledged to work on the swift release of her oldest son," a statement carried by the National News Agency said.She was hospitalized Saturday after becoming weak six days into her hunger strike before being discharged Wednesday.
