The European Union Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn announced Friday that Lebanon would have a special position in the upcoming Syria Donors Conference.During the meeting, the pair discussed the pressing humanitarian issues that have developed as a result of the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis in preparation for the upcoming Syria Donor Conference, which will be hosted in London on Feb. 4 . In order to tackle the issue more efficiently, Hahn called for increased cooperation with Lebanon and Syria, specifically on the issue of allocating funds. Hahn highlighted the European Union's expertise in this particular field and also called for environmental preservation to be taken into account with development.Hahn also met, separately, with Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil to discuss bilateral and regional issues.
