With fires raging across the country like every time of this year, Civil Defense teams complain about being underequipped and short-staffed, though they remain the country's first line of defense against forest fires.Although often sizable blazes are consistently being quelled, this is in no small part due to the training of the volunteers on the front line.Logistical considerations in the field also prevent the volunteers from efficiently putting out fires, Khattar explained. He listed three reasons, including the areas' rugged terrain, the absence of viable roads, and the lack of adequate infrastructure, including water faucets in forested areas. Khattar also pointed to a number of reasons that cause forest fires.
