Authorities Thursday released five municipal police officers in the northern Lebanese coastal town of Amchit after questioning them for allegedly humiliating Syrians in the area.The five policemen were arrested at dawn after images circulated on social media in which they appeared to be abusing Syrians who reside in the area.Another shows Syrians standing with their hands behind their backs. Some pictures show the men kneeling with their hands on their heads.The head of the Amchit municipality, Antoine Issa, said that demonstrators had agreed to reopen the highway after they were promised that the five policemen would be released in an hour.
