Political and military sources told The Daily Star Friday that they have acquired information indicating the term of Lebanese Army chief Gen. Jean Kahwagi will be extended for an additional year until Sept. 2017 .The move would also be Kahwagi's final extension, as he has fully served his term.The sources explained that the extension for Kahwagi's term will be part of a larger package of negotiations. The extension for Kheir is very likely as he is backed by Prime Minister Tammam Salam and hasn't yet served his full possible term. Nevertheless, it appeared that the term of Lebanese Army's chief of staff Maj. The sources highlighted that the only guaranteed new security appointment currently will come in the Army's chief of staff.
