Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai stressed Thursday that the government was responsible for the presence and protection of Christians in Lebanon, as he visited the border village of Al-Qaa that was targeted by eight suicide bombers last month.Rai later visited the Oyoun Orghosh area which, like Al-Qaa, is part of the Baalbek-Hermel region. He visited to lay the foundation stone of a sports center and the summer residence of the Maronite Diocese of Baalbek and Deir al-Ahmar. On his way to visit Al-Qaa, Rai first stopped in Ras Baalbek and was welcomed by a number of political, religious, and local officials from the town and the Bekaa region.
