Local nonprofit group Embrace is hosting a fundraiser next week to help establish the first emotional crisis and suicide prevention help line in Lebanon. The research indicates that in 2015 and 2016 suicide rates in Lebanon increased to one person every two and a half days, up from one every three days in 2014 .The establishment of a national referral network may also provide some funding opportunities for projects such as the help line. While the first phase has been completed and the second phase is well underway, the NGO still needs to raise the $149,000 needed to complete the final – and most expensive – phase, as well as cover costs in the projects first year of operation.
