A spate of recent technical failures in the Zahrani power plant have caused severe water and electricity shortages across the south.Electricity in the area decreased following failures at the Zahrani power plant due to technical problems that led two electricity producing units to cease production.Power rationing has been very harsh this year, with some areas getting as little as two hours of electricity every eight hours and other areas getting no more than four hours of electricity every eight hours.However, this summer even electricity provided by local generator companies is being limited.
