Local TV channel Al-Jadeed accused Speaker Nabih Berri of orchestrating an attack early Wednesday by unidentified assailants on its chairman's offices, adding the latest fodder to its ongoing war of words with the speaker's affiliated channel.Around 21 shots were fired at the building according to Al-Jadeed's evening news bulletin, causing damage to the seventh, eighth, and ninth floors primarily. Al-Jadeed has recently been locked in a war of words with other local TV stations, mainly the pro-March 14 MTV and pro-March 8 NBN.NBN, the National Broadcasting Network, is closely affiliated with Berri.In its news bulletin Wednesday, Al-Jadeed continued its reports on Berri and the alleged parking lot deals. Al-Jadeed's news bulletin introduction clearly linked the reports targeting Berri and the attack, suggesting that the speaker was behind it. Wednesday's attack was not the first against Al-Jadeed.
