A ministerial committee Thursday decided to halt the work of all sand quarries near Litani River in the Western Bekaa, Defense Minister Samir Moqbel said.Regarding the sewage from homes that is being discharged in the Litani River, Moqbel said that Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk and the concerned municipalities would deal with the matter.Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb said after the meeting that pollution at the Litani River needs to be regulated and controlled.The meeting was headed by Moqbel at his Yarze office and attended by Machnouk, Hajj Hasan, Chehayeb, Health Minister Wael Abu Faour, Energy Minister Arthur Nazarian, Environment Minister Mohammad Machnouk, State Minister Mohammed Fneish and other relevant officials.
