Leaders of the Cedar Revolution commemorated Thursday the 11th anniversary of the assassination of Samir Kassir, a prominent journalist and critic of the Syrian regime.The Cedar Revolution refers to the series of protests that ultimately resulted in the withdrawal of Syrian forces from Lebanese soil.Kassir's legacy lives on through the Samir Kassir Award for the Freedom of the Press, funded by the European Union.This year saw the highest number of submissions since the award was established in 2006 . Egyptian national Mohammad Tarek won the Investigative Article category.
