Kataeb chief Sami Gemayel Thursday said that his party will not be a "false witness" at the Cabinet, lashing out at the government for approving new tenders for Burj Hammoud landfill.Gemayel demanded an Environmental Impact Assessment for the garbage plan, chastising the Cabinet for deciding to delay it until the tenders were issued. In March the government approved a plan to resolve the country's garbage crisis, which had dominated public life for nearly eight months.Gemayel criticized the Free Patriotic Movement ministers for failing to stand by the Kataeb in its position, hoping that the stance wasn't linked to the Janna Dam project. The FPM is a strong backer of the Janna dam project, along with Hezbollah and Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblatt's bloc, despite the PSP leader's recent skepticism over the project. However, ministers from the Future Movement and the Kataeb Party along with Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb oppose the dam, citing environmental reasons.
