The Council for Development and Reconstruction Friday disputed accusations by the Kataeb Party, denying malpractice in the waste management proceedings, especially regarding the burial of untreated trash. The CDR's comments came in response to a statement by Kataeb Party leader MP Sami Gemayel warning of the flawed and suspicious nature of deals related to the management of the trash crisis.Gemayel's comments came one day after Economy Minister Alain Hakim and Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi, both Kataeb members, walked out of a Cabinet meeting in protest of what they called defects in the implementation of the country's trash plan. This Thursday, the government passed a decree to license the use of public coastal property to create a temporary center for trash treatment and a sanitary landfill in Costa Brava.
