Residents of the neighborhoods west of Horsh Beirut are upset.The planned Egyptian hospital was approved by former Mayor Bilal Hamad's municipal council two months ago, after it was decided in 2014 that the Beirut Arab University hospital should be moved.However, the area on which the three-story hospital is being built is not zoned for development and thus its construction is technically illegal, a detail that Nahnoo's members were quick to point out.The construction of a hospital near Horsh Beirut is at odds with the city's "Plan Vert," a detailed and concrete road map for developing Beirut's public spaces that was published in 2013, with a preface by Hamad.
