The late Prime Minister Rafik Hariri figured high at the opening of an educational convention in the southern city of Sidon Friday, with speakers highlighting the role he had played to upgrade the level of education in Lebanon, in addition to helping thousands of needy people attain university education.The event, marking the 11th anniversary of Hariri's assassination, was sponsored by Sidon MP Bahia Hariri, who heads Parliament's Education and Culture Committee.It was attended by a large crowd of people, including representatives of the education minister, political party functionaries, Sidon's mayor, a number of university presidents and school principals of the School Network of Sidon and surrounding areas, and more than 350 teachers from public, private and UNRWA schools. It was accompanied by specialized educational workshops dealing with new events in the world of education and learning.Sayegh highlighted the role of education in building and enhancing human beings.
