Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil defended his second abstention from an Arab League statement declaring Hezbollah a terrorist organization during a foreign ministers meeting Friday in Cairo.Lebanon agreed on all the other items of the Arab League statement and asked for the description of Hezbollah as terrorist to be removed to allow for consensus, but the request was denied, Bassil said.Bassil reiterated his condemnation of the attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran, but emphasized that declaring Hezbollah a terrorist group was a different matter.Last week, Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk, who belongs to the March 14's Future Movement, also refused to endorse a statement classifying Hezbollah as a terrorist group at a meeting of interior ministers in Tunis.
