Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said Monday official exams for Grade 9 (Brevet) and Grade 12 (Baccalaureate) would take place as scheduled in May and June respectively despite a proposal by two lawmakers for the annulment of the Brevet exams. "We confirm to all student candidates that this academic year will witness normal official exams for the intermediate [Brevet] and secondary [Baccalaureate] certificates in its four sections," Bou Saab said. He was speaking to reporters at his office when asked about the Education Ministry's position on a draft law presented to Parliament by Future bloc MP Serge Torsarkissian and Kataeb MP Nadim Gemayel to cancel the Brevet exams.
