United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the attack on a Lebanese Army patrol in a northeastern border region Thursday showed the need to support Lebanon's military.Ban also expressed his concerns over Lebanon's ongoing presidential crisis.Earlier in the day, Ban called on the international community to increase its support for Lebanese security forces during a short visit to the UNIFIL headquarters in the southern town of Naqoura.Gen. Luciano Portolano and senior UNIFIL officers greeted Ban upon his arrival at UNIFIL base.Ban and the accompanying delegation will Friday visit communities hosting refugees to reiterate their long-term support for Lebanon and discuss new ways of building resilience and assisting national systems.The U.N. chief will depart Lebanon Saturday. The EU officials reconfirmed Monday that the EU would continue to support Lebanon in the face of the country's many challenges, particularly that of hosting over a million Syrian refugees.
